Considering Others as Intentional Work
The Golden Rule states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Although the sentiment of this rule is clear, it is not so easy to follow in our day-to-day lives — there is always the tricky question of how to balance the needs of others with our own.

About the Event
The Golden Rule states, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Although the sentiment of this rule is clear, it is not so easy to follow in our day-to-day lives — there is always the tricky question of how to balance the needs of others with our own. To follow the Rule well, we would need to be intentional in our interactions with others, letting the discernment of our minds and hearts determine our actions. This is a formidable demand.
The Gurdjieff practice of external considering can help us explore this demand. To externally consider means to assume an attitude of service to the other. It requires a sensitivity to others, an ability to put ourselves in their situation, and a willingness to do what we perceive they might need, without confusing our needs with theirs. External considering can be tried in most any situation with most anybody.
At this meeting, we will discuss questions of external considering. How do we sincerely consider others? What holds us back from considering others’ needs?
Please join us. Your questions and observations are welcomed.
