About the Event

“Everything is dependent on everything else, everything is connected, nothing is separate.  Therefore, everything is going in the only way it can go.  If people were different, everything would be different. They are what they are, so everything is as it is.”

P. D. Ouspensky

In Search of the Micraculous

Can wars be stopped? What is it that drives peoples and nations to engage in periodic “mutual annihilation”? Gurdjieff taught that humanity cannot change, or rather, that we cannot change humanity; but individuals have the potential for change. We must begin where we are, to try to ‘see’ ourselves, to understand our potential for transformation at a personal level: change begins with oneself.

In this open exchange, we will discuss these ideas. War is the most mechanical and destructive signature of mankind. Can its prevalence serve as a reminding factor that helps us awaken—not only to our individual potential but to ways large and small that each of us can discover to help?
